Student activism is defined as the involvement of individual students in group activities aimed at defending their interests and bringing about changes in systems, policies, attitudes, knowledge and behaviors regarding issues affecting university life or society at large ( Altbach, 1989). Here in the Philippines, student activism is often coined with the words 'walang utang na loob sa gobyerno' 'makakaliwang grupo' and student activists are sometimes labeled as member of the New People's Army (NPA). Unlike the meaning stated, student activism is viewed as something negative for those people who does not truly know or aware on what the student activists are fighting for. Moreover, red tagging is one of the ways the government uses whenever activists opposes the administration. It is defined by The Oxford Living Dictionary as the harassment or persecution of a person because of known or suspected communists symphaties. Student activists or activists in general are usually labeled as left-leaning and enemies of the state. They are being red-tagged just by fighting for what is right, as they were saying "may mali kaya lumalaban". Thus, the purpose of this website is to end the stigma against student activists and enlighten the readers why these people are shouting in the streets, holding placards and fighting for the rights of the oppressed.
